My father and I came down to our families rental house. We do not recommend buying bait from them!!! We went to “hooked up bait & tackle” and bought 4 dozen on two separate mornings. (8 dozen in two days) Our first day was Sunday, second was my birthday which was Tuesday. Between both days we got 2 dozen shrimps that were above pinky size. (Above 2.5 inches) the rest (6 dozen) were tiny and dead soon after. (Even with the bubbler) I do not recommend live bait from them. They said “we’ve got good sized shrimp” when that is not the case. Find another bait shop. Thanks!
Smaller than say j&m but had live shrimp, some were pretty small but all alive, stayed alive in Engel next day. Will visit again.
Went to get some live shrimp 2 days ago and bought 3 dozen. My bait bucket is a little larger than a 5 gallon bucket , 7 gallons with a styrofoam liner and I could not see ANY of the shrimp because the water was so dirty. It looked like they scooped it out of a mud puddle. The shrimp did not last very long in that water. I went back yesterday evening 15 minutes before closing time and asked the guy if the water was clean. He just said " it's what we have in the tank". I went ahead and got 3 dozen again. The water was a little cleaner but by this morning most of the shrimp were dead. This isn't the first time I have gotten dirty water but it was definitely the worst.I've bought shrimp at the other bait stores and have saw stained water, but it's almost always dirtier here. They need to clean/change the filters more often. On a side note one time I accidentally left my aerator in the bucket and the guy puts shrimp AND water on top of it.....ruined the motor . This was my fault but you would think that the guy would have enough common courtesy to take it out first.I won't be back.
Live bait daily from shrimp to minnows. Purchased a couple of reels and some tackle. Have joined their rewards program and have visited a few times.
Closed early for no reason, I sent my wife up there and she got there at 10 til 8, online shows open til 9 but I already knew it was supposed to be 8. I had planned all day to fish tonight and didn’t want to get my shrimp until I was heading out. It really pissed me off and ruined my fishing plans. I am a local and spend a lot of money here and even after calling since the door was locked before time they refused to sell me some shrimp. I will not be returning. I am also a local business owner and would never treat my customer like this.
Purchased a 9ft Penn combo here and had them spool it. Which I thought $90 was a tad high for line. But my fault for not asking the price before I had them spool it. On the bright side I caught 15 Pompano in 3 days time. 6 of which were keepers. Perhaps it was their magical touch of spooling the pole 🤔. If I ever get to live around saltwater I'll buy better surf gear. But it got the job done! Thanks Hooked Up!
My husband and I came in knowing little about salt water fishing. Both men working helped us out both days we came in. Most respectful and knowledgeable dudes and gave us everything we needed and more. 10/10 would recommend!
Guys were nice but sold me a fishing pole with no line. Guy offered to string it for me but failed to mention it would be $50. Went fishing with this pole for the second time and even when my line was set it would still pull out. Pole came apart and the reel part feel in the water. Usually not a big deal because you can just pull it up from the line but since my reel was messing up I couldn’t do that. Had to pull all the line off the spool before I could pull it up which defeated the purpose of paying $50 to my put line on and have it spooled. Guys were nice but don’t buy a fishing pole with no line unless you wanna waste your money!!
